Photography by Marc Philbert

Yes, now that the summer is in its intermediate stage now, it is safe to say that the glut of information has long subsided. Hence, with little to speak about in contrast to different seasonal hinges, it is now the time where I give you a couple of hot releases, mixed in with music videos, fuckery, and gratuitous sex. Granted, on the same note, I'll also present to you some of the most talented fashion photographers I can get my hands on as well. So don't consider all to be lost.

Despite whether or not I had great posting content for today, I would have still spoken a little bit on Marc Philbert. After all, dude is incredibly talented, presenting great photography that is editorial fashion photography in one of its most mastered applications. Philbert, though a great fashion photographer, has also done contributions for ad campaigns including AXE, and has an extensive portfolio in fashion and beauty that will keep you flipping for unhealthy amounts of time. Check out his portfolio here. (via Ben Trovato)

Whereabouts Is Bringing Versatility to the Fall

Whereabouts is another one of those Japanese fashion labels that is of small size, but with great designs. Granted, the other aspect with these small Japanese fashion houses, is that their are based in Japan. While this may be caused by regional purism, or simply lack of reach, all that is known is that more great designs are difficult to grasp while state-side. In the mean time, its okay to watch. For their F/W '09/'10 collection, the brand is presenting a series of lovely products that are versatile in nature. While the quintessential suit makes its presence known, the true spectacle comes by way of everything else that is presented from coats and khakis to cardigans and denim through each piece's interchangeability.

I Just Remembered How Much I Love Me Some Skinny-Ass Women

There is something you need to know. Some women may hate me for this, and well, at least I'm full knowing what kind of unholy wrath I may unleash upon myself. But the fact is, spreads like this make me love skinny women. No, I'm not talking like, Jessica Beil skinny where girl is in shape but still happens to have an ass on her. I'm talking about straight up,  no tits, no ass, just legs, waist and neck stone cold, bona-fide skinny. Period.

This is particularly odd because Australian fashion company Zimmermann is using skinny models to advertise bathing suits, a seasonal sensitive spot for many women who may not feel endowed enough. Granted, this method of thinking certainly did not come about by your run-of-the-mill heterosexual male who finds big breasts and a fat ass to be one of the spices of life. But this time around, I think it works really well... It also reaffirms how much I love skinny girls. And as a black man, that could very well be blasphemy, but shit, I said it.

Their website features some very sexy, incredibly well thought looks from their summer '09 collection, and though I hope you guys don't go running around in ladies bathing suits, perhaps you can grow to appreciate the lady in the suit... And then maybe the suit after the fact. (via Refinery29)

Kris Van Assche F/W '09 High Top

Though many sneaker releases are slowing down as labels begin preparations for the fall/winter seasons, many contemporary and high fashion labels are beginning to straggle behind traditional sneaker brands such as Nike & Adidas. For Kris Van Assche's Fall/Winter collection for this year, an interesting high top sneaker has made it onto the scene. While it seems a little awkward at first glance, closer examination of this particular shoe presents an excellent silhouette that is perfectly proportioned, featuring smart eyelets usually found on hiking boots, and a nicely shaped toe box. As far as high tops go for the upcoming season, so far this makes my short list. (via High Snobiety)

Rebel 8 "Startin Up A Posse" Tee

You might see a cute tatted up dime clutching two pistols and that might totally turn you on. But to those of us that see beyond the titties and ass on this tee know that this is more than just a testament to sheer badassed-ness. In fact, you could say that Rebel 8, for one moment in their online exclusive tee is paying homage to what some thugs would call a "bottom bitch." Yeah, I know it sounds derogatory as hell, and perhaps it even is. But just work with me here in recognizing that it's totally a term of endearment. After all, who else is supposed to stay with you through the thick while you have a bounty on your head by the local gangs and feds trying to kick down your door. Cop that shit at Rebel8. The New 2010 Jaguar XJ

Thoughts of the Jaguar XJ bring me to memories of riding in the back of a friend's car on the way to a Boy Scout retreat. Granted, this was as far back as the 4th grade, but for as long as I can possibly remember the Jaguar XJ has not only had classic luxury amenities, but also a classic design that many have written off as old in this day and age. Thus, after damn near a couple of decades of a more or less identical body type, Jaguar has moved on and made significant adjustments to their flagship vehicle. The new XJ will be available in three engine types: a 5.0 liter V8 which be available in 385hp to 510hp. Also, according to the source, as opposed to a traditional dial instrument, the Jaguar introduces something called a "virtual instrument" which consists of three high definition screens that adjust dynamically depending on driving mode. Sounds cryptic as hell but I'll take it. (via acquire)

PTA*: Abby Brothers

Like plenty of the models that get featured on this web page, I don't know who Abby Brothers is. However, one thing is for certain: girl definitely made my day, and QUICK I might add when I stumbled across her smart, sexy, and animal-friendly photo shoot with Zoey Grossman. Nah, thats it. That's all I've got to say... Now you go and look at the pictures after the jump!

ASOS F/W '09 Lookbook

Though the news of an ASOS F/W '09 lookbook may be the root of some guffaw, I detest most every disposition that is aligned with this belief that "brands such as ASOS cannot have a lookbook." The reason why is because having a resource available to the general public that is also sartorially sound is a major deal... Especially for men. The fact is, women have access to clothing that is attractive yet affordable, and men more times than not, simply don't. So with stores such as H&M, Topman, and of course, ASOS, there is a major need that is being served: to provide stylish products that have a unique feel outside of what you can get at your run-of-the-mill suburban-centric shopping center.

For their Fall/Winter run of 2009, ASOS is coming out with designs that aren't particularly a major surprise. Though their RTW items such as suits are certainly re-interpreted, their cut and sew pieces are heavily embedded in a workman's aesthetic which consists of a significant share in buffalo plaids, and navajo prints. Both of these patterns have been making appearances in the A.P.C. collection as well as Opening Ceremony for the Fall and Winter and are not a major surprise for the brand as well as others to follow.

Though this is vastly predictable, ASOS executes these trends with effectiveness through applications, especially of the Navajo print, on scarves, sweaters, and shirts (which has been new compared to what I've seen thus far). As the Summer release of these Winter lookbooks is showing that this print could very possibly be what Plaid was last year, I think that's okay because this design is very attractive, and it is about time that it got it's due diligence in 21st century fashion.(via Hypebeast)

PTA*: Cameron Diaz Is Kind Of Like The Old Bitch At The Club... But I Totally Mean This in a Good Way!

It's funny, the Cameron Diaz of today mostly has reminded me of the Cameron Diaz of yesterday... In that she's just not her enough. You know, back when she was considered exotic? You know, before she dated Justin Timberlake and when she was that bitch-tastic general manager from Any Given Sunday? Or maybe when you and your boys would talk about her in the same breath as the laundry list of other women you thought were "arguably the hottest women in the world?"

Yeah, those are the days... And now that Cameron Diaz has certainly toned it down from Charlies Angels to My Sister's Keeper, a film that looks like it's kicking and screaming for an Oscar nomination, you could say that she's kind of like the old bitch at the club. Most would look at this as a bad thing, and well, they would be right. But the way I see it is that for a woman who is going on 37, with no prospect of children nor marriage in sight, she's still out there giving these 20-somethings a run for their money... In which case, this is the 2% chance where such an expression can be considered a term of endearment.

Her most recent spread with V Magazine is dedicated to this factoid that may have some of you scratching your head (yes, she's older than she looks), but is reminiscent of Diaz' days back in the late eighties and early nineties when she was a fashion model... And based on the way things have turned out what with a very sexy cover followed by a beautiful shoot, I can say that she hasn't really lost it. It has also made me reach another conclusion: she could very well be on the same level as the Madonna's, Halle Berry's and Demi Moore's of the world, who just never really seem to age as badly as your friends mom, and can actually fit the same shit they used to have when they were 20 (an anomaly many women wish was punishable by excruciating and painful death). CAMO Is All About The Pretty Horses

If you're asking what the deal is with the head wraps, then you're clearly asking the wrong question. The fact is, considering their refreshingly strong approach to fashion in both the street and contemporary arenas (which is relatively rare, believe it or not) they can do whatever they want because everything is clearly on point through presentations of liberally low cut polos, drop-crotch shorts, and blazers that are flattering to the waist in their summer 2010 lookbook.

It will be interesting to see where CAMO goes in the next calendar year as it's collection is distinctly progressive. However, I can't help but think that the jockey inspiration which has brought about this drop-crotch look is potentially losing steam. Not to say that I don't like it or anything, but considering the expandability of trends such as harem pants for females, I cannot help but think that the days of the drop crotch are heavily dependent on whether or not the harem is even a legitimate presence in 2010. Though the forecasting of a drop-crotch is a hefty expectation for 2010, especially considering it isn't regularly worn by the average male audience, that isn't to say that it is deserving of being phased out. Artwork From Cage's "Depart From Me" Album

Before my Wednesday hiatus that probably left a massive daily informational void that I know you were looking for (syke), I mentioned that Cage's album "Depart From Me" would be dropping on July 7th. However, after looks at the album artwork up close, I noticed that the New York emcee commissioned artwork by none other than the mighty Alex Pardee for his album.

For those of you who don't know, Pardee has been featured on this blog before in the past due to his distinctly disturbing, yet completely captivating approach to artwork that can certainly be seen in part through Cage's album cover work which is available after the jump. For those of you that haven't checked out the album, I've gotten word that the entire thing is available at Cage's MySpace. (via mashKULTURE)

Why Every Guy Wants to be Hedi Slimane

I've come to a conclusion: every guy (that gives a shit about creativity) wants to be Hedi Slimane. Why? Because he's like the fucking Zorro of the fashion world. After being the creative director of Dior and founder of Dior Homme in the 90's, Slimane retired his designing duties and moved onward to "greater" things such as writing books, contributing writing to some of the world's most esteemed publications point blank period. But one thing that has enhanced his name recognition leagues and bounds beyond his writing capacity has been his quintessentially classic photogrpahy focalized on doe-eyed young models with high cheekbones and mouths perfect for lingering cigarettes.

So why does every guy want to be Hedi Slimane? Because considering the fact that (I think) he has the luxury of not having what many of us would call a real job that spans beyond from contributing writing in peppered doses to the world's most respected publications, dude gets to spend days taking pictures of the worlds most beautiful women. Why does he get to do it? Oh, just because. You didn't know?

Remember Lil' Waynes Skytops?

Yeah, well I snagged a close-up picture of his studded shoes that cannot be denied their due despite their completely ostentatious appearance that screams coonery. Don't repeat that. These one-of-a-kind (yes, one of a kind for those of you that actually considered getting a pair) Skytops were a custom job from the CLVII Stores in Europe for Wayne's 26th birthday which explains the cryptic "26" on the right shoe tongue. Luckily these shoes will never make it to the market for a general or limited-run release because quite honestly, sometimes its only good to see one pair and not random pictures surfacing of every d-list celebrity and hype-man holding up a pair whilst grinning at the camera like a clown. Cake Wrecks: Like A Train Wreck, But More Fun!

Rarely do I ever turn out Kudos to other blogs, especially since many of the ones that I read would be most appropriately classified by laymen as "the competition," but once in a blue moon a blog will be completely worthy of my holy endorsement. Sorry if I sound like a pompous ass.

World, meet Cake Wrecks: a testament to professional cakemaking when it goes horribly awry, and let it be known, everybody makes the cut. Since the website covers the gamut of monumental failures from female genitalia and the horrendously misspelled to geekish testaments and the racially insensitive, it has a knack for being incredibly funny as it very easily draws inspiration from the spectrum of sad, silly, creepy and clearly inappropriate.

PTA*: Did You Know About Sophie Vlaming? Neither Did I...

That's what happens when the cosmos present absolutely nothing for me to talk about: you get a small dash of fashion, mixed in with a shit-ton of music videos, and, of course, gratuitous sex peppered out throughout the day's postings. Granted, there's no reason for you to complain because it just means I have to deliver... And I have. Heard of Sophie Vlaming? Yeah, neither have I, but hell, I'd like to know a lot more about her after seeing these pictures featuring her, some feathers and five-inch heels (which I think is almost scraping the minimum stripper requirement which is why regular women try not to go about four). It may be the pinnacle of pointless sex, but sometimes its fun fuckin' with your head as you try to justify why you're looking at a litany of unequivocally not suitable for work pictures. Mean - Fall/Winter '09 Collection

I never knew about Mean. But the Japanese brand is absolutely making ripples in the sartorialsphere with their fall/winter collection that is distinctly inspired by old western America and the frontier spirit. The collection, though featuring some prints throughout, has opted to focus on quintessentially fall and winter fabrics such as tweed and houndstooth, putting them into traditional, yet mysteriously-inspiring applications. Unfortunately, for a collection that is very strong in feel and very American in nature, all store accounts are ironically located in Japan. Hm... Yet another way I have proven to the rest of us that Americans get the short end of the stick when it comes to cool shit. (via SwipeLife)

Greedy Genius White/Gum Ocean Runner

No, I would never in my right mind cop a popsicle from Popsicle Pete. But this doesn't change the fact that dude has impeccable taste in the shoe department. At least, when it comes to the new Greedy Geniuses.

For me though, I have typically been a harsh critic of Greedy Genius. If not on this blog, then behind closed doors, on long car rides, and during tĂŞte-a-tĂŞtes about fashion over cigarettes and beer. But since they have released imagery of their newest shoe, the Ocean Runner, my perspective on the brand has shifted to a much better place than where it was a year ago. Their newest version of the ocean runner features a mean colorway that involves a white upper with a contrast rubber-gum sole. So far, though, there is no information available as to when these kicks will be available to those of us that actually have to wait.

The New Cage Album Comes Out Today!

Though Cage is a pioneer in the cross-pollination of Rap and Rock music, many seem not to know who he is, despite a catalog of awe-inspiring hip hop music, much less, being active for almost two decades. However, this time around, with a six-page-feature in music magazine Spin and the release of his album "Depart From Me" out today, things could very well be turning up for one of the better rappers you most likely don't know.

Off of his album he has released a single "I Never Knew You," a video directed by Shia Labeouf (a name I was considering featuring in the title of this post just to fuck with you). Don't let this turn your stomach however, because his work is certainly on point with beautiful cinematography and dark storyline. The song, while quintessentially Cage with rock inspiration, comfortably jagged lyricism and a dark tone, still remains different and progressive when compared to the rest of the tracks from his discography.

Cheap Thrills: Lady Gaga's Maxim Magazine Shoot Adds To Her Mountain Of Lies!

Don't get the wrong idea or anything. I actually think that Lady Gaga is pretty ugly as far as female "style icons" go. But see, I don't really consider this shoot with boyish boobie mag, Maxim, to necessarily be a legitimate testament to her beauty. Not that Lady Gaga is a woman of impressive charm, grace and beauty or anything , albeit the fact that she puts on a facade as such, but it just happens to be that Gaga was present in the shoot, but clearly will pose for pictures that will look nothing like her when the touch-up people are done with her.

No, Maxim won't have to do the Kim K work that Complex Magazine certainly had live with, but I'm just going to say that everybody knows that Gaga is a butter face... Just nobody says it. So I'm gonna say it. Lady Gaga is a butter face. For those of you who are so blissfully ignorant of modern slang... I'm saying that when it comes to Lady Gaga, everything is nice about her... But her face. Don't believe me? Why is it that pictures such as this one (which make me NEVER want to see her without her "poker face" or whatever the fuck) clearly prove the tough-but-true efficacy of my statements? Just saying...

So. When it comes down to it... All I'm disclaiming is that yes, the pictures are sexy, yes, Gaga looks pretty good in them. But no, don't approach this small series of images with the same admiration that you would any run-of-the-mill ingenue. After all, you aren't admiring her staggering beauty so much as Maxim's staggering skill at graphic design. Don't say I never told you nothin...
