Zimmerman Stays On My Short List For This Spring

If you remember my posts at all from last year, you probably know that I absolutely love Zimmerman. Yeah, yeah, you're probably thinking "but hey, this is a men's blog right?" and you would be absolutely certain. But one of the things that I love about Zimmerman (aside from their choice in absolutely gorgeous models) is the fact that the label features truly progressive designs in the realm of womens wear.

With the label's upcoming S/S '10 line, the brand draws inspiration from nothing less than the good ol' red white and blue and after having looked at this, I find some serious personal investment in this line considering the goals for Anatomy II (which you're just gonna have to wait for until later). I will, however, clue you in on one thing: we are interested in swimwear for our spring issue and Zimmerman has been on our short list since October. From the looks of things, the label will stay there. View the entire collection at Fashionising.

The Acne S/S '10 Line: Trés Magnifique

A true treat for the S/S season has been the unveiling of the Acne Spring 10 line in much greater scrutiny. The Swedish label's release is takes a shift to a pleasantly laid back look with natural hues and though the collection is truly comprehensive for the upcoming season, it is the shoes that steal the show.

In most sartorial circumstances, the animal print is one that is overlooked and undeniably deserves to be. Acne, however, manages to shine with the application of animal print as each piece manages to be well thought. Their play on the Vans Era (though not really an Era, mind you) is quite excellent, but perhaps my personal favorite is their play on a leopard-print Clark (though not really a Clark). Somehow, each piece seems to have an energy that is understated enough to actually be placed in context to a greater outfit without overpowering it, or coming off as too flamboyant or obnoxious. These Gingham Dunks Are Worship Worthy

After the publishing of Anatomy Magazine, I have still been getting used to certain things. But the best part about this new job is the fact that now as opposed to simply looking at clothing on the internet and merely admiring it, blogging it and moving on, pieces sometimes scream future involvement in later issues. The Nike Sportswear Gingham Dunk Hi is one of those pieces. Featuring distinctly southern inspiration that would give just about any southern bell the jollies, these gingham dunks can only be described with one expression and one expression only: worship worthy.

Between the nice distribution of colors, the sheer ease on the eyes, or the fact that they are, uhm, gingham maybe(?), Nike Sportswear hit some serious gold when designing these dunks and could perhaps be fitted in nicely with an endearingly preppy outfit. Think a solid pair of fitted khakis, oxford shirt, pink bowtie, a denim jacket and of course, these shoes and you're just about set to stand out at any function with class and edge nicely bundled in one. Stussy x Haze are back at it...

With the turn of the new year (just expect for me to use this term to begin plenty of posts until January 1), we are seeing a nice healthy influx of capsule collections to kick off the new year. To continue the "trend" of capsule collections featured on this website, Stussy has collaborated with graf artist Eric Haze to produce an abbreviated line of tees, outerwear, and... TRUNKS!! Yeah people, try not to freak or anything, spring is quickly upon us and dammit is this a good thing. This collaborative effort features some shining stars, most notably the cotton varsity (let's get practical and not wear wool for the spring people), along with the board shorts that will get plenty of use once it gets hotter outside.

Nike SB Dunk Hi Premium Wool

With the turn of the year less than a hop, skip and a jump away along with the advent of spring, Nike SB is really stepping up to the plate with high quality product worthy of a solid mention, most notably, the Nike SB Premium Wool dunk that I'm showing you along with the Nike Sportswear Gingham dunk which is featured in a different post. What makes this shoe truly a banger is the combination of wool with a print that features a vaguely indigenous nature to it. The shoe, set to release in Spring '09 is not your typical dunk, it definitely is worthy of a cosign considering your friends most likely won't have it... And well, it's effing awesome.

Good To See Charles Hamilton Is Back At It...

After all I thought dude was, as you say, "done" and all. But it seems as if he has more or less made a bounce back to good old hip hop and producing. Haven't had a chance to give this album a listen, but I'll fill you in when I get a chance. In the mean time, let me put you on Hamilton's newest album... All for free.99.

Neighborhood x Fragment Design Vintage Custom Works

Not saying that I have ESP or anything, but something told me that vintage leather jackets would be a really big thing coming up for 2010. Granted, the only caveat to this forcast is that the delivery of most leather pieces has been mostly disappointing. Like all things though, there are nuggets of gold. Pieces of note have been the Balmain biker jackets that have surfaced on the internet along with the Schott x Barneys NY Vintage collaboration which has been nothing short of brilliant. Another addition onto my short list of truly amazing jacket pieces has been the Neighborhood x fragment design Vintage Custom Works collection which features (yeah, yeah) t-shirts along with some denim jacket pieces. But the garments to truly take the stage and steal the show have been the leather jacket pieces. Though some are not exactly my personal style, each jacket provides some variety for many different tastes and most of all, each piece seems very well made.

The jackets have recieved very minor backlash for certain motifs resembling Nazi symbols such as the skulls, the cross (vaguely similar to an iron cross) on the lapels, and Eagles (the german national bird), however, I'm pretty sure this was not intentional and can be quite readily overlooked.

Controversy aside, these jackets are single handedly one of the best collaborative products I have seen from either brandd's extensive catalog of collaborations. The reason why is because they do exactly what fashion is supposed to do to the common onlooker: Inspire. There is currently no release information available. (via SlamXHype)

It's A New Year, Which Means New Jordans

Well, not really... But despite frigid temperatures in your local neighborhood, Jordan is prepping for the spring season which may be relatively close depending on where you're living. The new collection includes the Air Jordan Alpha 1, as well as two fresh colorways of the Jordan Spizike. (via HighSnobiety)

Cheap Thrills: The 12Billion Dollar Oopsie Daisy

If you haven't been living in a cave, then you probably know that Tiger Woods is up a creek for sleeping around on his wife. Par usual this scandal, perhaps the biggest of 2009 (Gov. Sanford Doesn't have shit on this!), has been truly the butt of some serious conversation between men and women. Granted, the discourse between man and woman has been relatively predictable with women saying how horrible it was for Tiger to cheat on his wife and men saying "well, if you were worth over half a billion dollars, how couldn't you." Then there is the debate amongst men with the first half making the previous assertion while the second shaking their head in disappointment. I guess I subscribe moreso to the latter of the two groups. I mean, after all, would you cheat on this?

And I will leave you with that. No strung out arguments where I try to rationalize "why Tiger Woods did it" or any of that garbage. Fact is, it really doesn't matter. He did it right?

But there is another problem that has recently crested: The really-not-that-unpredictable instant diarrhea of sponsor dollars that Tiger Woods managed to singlehandedly flush down the toilet on the coat tails of some... Uh... **gets out calculator** Hell, I don't even know how many affairs.

But you see, it doesn't just stop there. The Tiger Woods affair has had a devastating impact on business in that it has not really affected Woods' losses, not that it will really matter for him, but it has produced some 5-12 Billion dollars in losses for Woods' sponsors including Nike and Gatorade. Biggie was right: "mo money, mo problems." In Woods' case: the most money, a typhoon of shit... Never mind a mere storm.

I don't know if he's a Southern photographer, but he's damn good at what he does...

Picturesque cityscapes, doe-faced ingenues, back yards, bedrooms and everything in between are characteristics of the world's most sought-after photographers: Henrik Purienne, Terry Richardson, Jolijn Snyders and Viktor Vauthier are just a few. Greg Manis' work follows this very-sexy formula of success that is eminent in the previously mentioned artists' work. His pieces are quintessentially snapshot, elegantly raw, and in some cases, even dreamlike. But Manis, though subscribed to this method of photography, is not a home grown city photographer. Unlike some of his peers, Manis is in fact a photographer who was born and raised in Georgia... No, not eastern europe Georgia. I'm talking below South Carolina Georgia Whether or not he describes himself as a southern photographer remains to be seen. Look out for this dude in Anatomy II... He very well may make the next issue. View his work here.

Pendleton Meets Opening Ceremony S/S '10 Collection Lookbook

I remember the last Pendleton Meets Opening Ceremony lookbook: It was, like, uber long so I decided to simply not post it. Despite the truly excellent collaboration between these two brands, it looks as if I will not be posting the entire look book on here either.

Trust me, it could be worse when I say that I am not willing to post a lookbook on the Anatomy Blog: it could be poorly shot, the clothes could look like two steps above dog shit, or maybe I have a personal vendetta with the brand that readily goes unrecognized on a massive level but helps me sleep at night.

Both Pendleton and Opening Ceremony have none of these problems. The reality of the matter is that the Pendleton Meets Opening Ceremony SS '10 Collection is truly brilliant: It addresses workman's fashion with an endearingly preppy appeal that cannot be replicated or denied as it is truly characteristic of both brands and quite unique.

We see through the men's (and women's) garments that the Pendleton Meets Opening Ceremony SS '10 Collection only faces one issue, the unbloggable issue which keeps their collection from being completely posted on Anatomy: The collection is incredibly comprehensive. There is no stone unturned, no garment unfinished, no look too arbitrary, random, or outlandish in context to the greater collection. The plaid and navajo prints speak to one another in different applications without being over done and work in harmonium to produce a truly great collection. So, with that being said, I suggest you take a look at the whole thing over at High Snobiety.

It'll Be A Fresh Two Months: The Kinda-Late WTAPS x Supreme Collection

In case you, like, didn't get the memo, it's brick out these days. Granted, down here in North Carolina isn't nearly as bad as say, living in New York (from a weather perspective, of course. North Carolina sucks).

Though many companies have already released their respective F/W and Holiday collections with sights optimistically ahead for the SS '10 collections poised to drop within the next month-two months, WTAPS x Supreme are showing up fashionably late. The two brands have teamed up to come out with a collaborative collection featuring a number of outerwear items plus some tee shirts and the arbitrary pillow... You know, if that's your cup of tea and all.

The outerwear pieces are quite nice, albeit late, with beautiful, hyper-collegiate styles that are well-presented without coming off as overdone or obnoxious. Still though, depending on where you live, you may only get a solid two month's use out of these outerwear pieces before having to pack them up for the wintertime, but look at it like this: It'll be a fresh two months... And at least there are tee shirts to hold you over.

The collection drops Dec. 29th (U.S.), and Jan 2nd (Japan). (via CtotheJL)
