Woolrich Woolen Mills F/W '09 Lookbook

Now that the Summer is officially more than halfway over and with looks on to the future and the Fall, brands have been preparing their lineups for the upcoming season and giving us an important degree of insight as to what could potentially be for the (less) cold months.

Woolrich Woolen Mills provides an interesting take on workman-inspired fashion along with the seasonal influx grays, browns, olive greens, flannels and corduruoy. As we revisit this trend through prints such as plaids (most notably in this collection), we can take note of how the trend has started to metamorphose into something beyond what it was a year ago. In 2008, with the downturn of the economy, the influx of plaid "lumberjack" shirts for the season was surprisingly instrumental in dictating what would happen in 2009. This year, though the trend has toned down some, the application of the print has evolved. Woolrich forecasts that plaid could very well be a sartorially sound option when applied in not just traditional vests and jackets that are distinctly workmans, but also slacks and blazers which are most certainly a unique interpretation of the print.

Granted, how far this ends up going without looking ridiculous is still up for debate. Though Woolrich was surprisingly conservative with this print much unlike Opening Ceremony's rather liberal use of the Navajo Print, their forecasting of plaid suits could very well be a tall ass order to fill, and pose for a major surprise if it actually fell into play. However, one thing is for certain, though a plaid suit may never be in style (cross your fingers), Woolrich forecasts something very important for the Fall/Winter '09 season: that plaid can very well make the jump from your daddy's flannel shirt's to more sophisticated garments.
