Google Jumps on the Cell Phone Band Wagon With the G1

Oh shit... let me guess. This is the new iPhone killer? Kind of like how Haze was supposed to be the new "Halo Killer" and how the Zune was supposed to be the iPod killer? Well, we'll see about that. Meanwhile, I think Apple will kick back, get some sweet tea and watch another pissant fail at taking a swing at its golliath.

We all thought it was bullshit back in the day, 18 months ago when Google was talking about the concept for a cell phone and to be honest, I think we were all okay with Google talking shit about making a product of their own to compete with the iPhone. But they aren't even a hardware company! They do internet! Anyway, minus the added on keyboard that makes the phone look like a makeshift sidekick, the tech specs seem... well... not particularly impressive. To start while the phone is $179, a competitive price against the iPhone 3G, you have to pay $30.00 for a standard plan plus an additional $20.00 if you want to utilize the 3G network. What a crock of shit... isn't T-Mobile supposed to be affordable? On top of that, the phone is optimized to use Google and while the web brand has certainly become a household name, they don't own the internet... Which means if you want to watch two girls one cup on your phone (why would you do that? i don't know...), you might be shit out of luck (hahaha! wow, I didn't even mean for there to be a pun there). Of course, like every other phone on god's green earth, the phone does come with fairly basic features including a music store app that allows users to download music from their (drumroll please?) music store. Hm... what about app support? Right now, in that realm, the iPhone and Blackberry models own that arena making them inherently better choices. On top of that, the phone doesn't have an unlocked option meaning you are stuck with shitty T-mobile service. Hm... seems as if google really came out swinging on this one guys...Technorati Tags: ,
